Response to yesterday's Message from Patty
This is in response to Patty's letter of resignation in yesterday's Coquina Daily.Almost two years ago, when it was decided that HACC would no longer continue to support the community's support of American troops with care packages, Florida Veterans Programs & Projects, Inc. was formed.
FVPPI supported Patty by collecting and handling contributions to Soldier Support as well as filing all legal paperwork to do this. This program was Patty's and she and her husband, Clark, did 99% of the work. We at FVPPI were surprised by Patty's decision to retire from the FVPPI Board and from continuing her patriotic work.
As President of FVPPI, I have called a Board Meeting to discuss the future of Coquina Crossing Troop Support, on Wednesday, May 20 at 7:00 PM in the Craft Room in the clubhouse. All interested parties are encouraged to attend. This meeting is open to everyone.
FVPPI Board Member, Renie, has expressed a desire to continue with this program but on a smaller scale. Renie will be discussing this at the Board meeting. There is money in the treasury to continue to support this program for a while. If this worthy program continues we will seek ways to fund it. If the FVPPI Board decides not to continue with the program or can't find someone to take it over, we will then discuss ways to distribute the Soldier Support monies, in compliance with our Bylaws, amongst similar Troop Support Programs.

Patty's original message:
I am resigning as coordinator of Coquina Crossing Troop Support, effective the 1st of August. I will be happy to assist anyone who would like to volunteer for this position, otherwise the program will end at that time. Please call Michael or myself if you are interested. Thank you to all who have participated in any way. Its been a great experience and so rewarding in so many ways. Please try to continue to support our troops in any way you can. If you would like to send packages on your own, you can find contacts at AnySoldier.com
