Veterans Day in St. Augustine

Tuesday saw two large events in observance of Veterans Day. The first was in the field near the parking garage. Among the participants was Michael, seen above with a painting inspired by a photo he took of Bob and Wally. The photo was awarded first prize in a competition sponsored by the Wounded Warrior Project. The painting will be auctioned and the proceeds will benefit the Traumatic Brain Injury Center of the Wounded Warrior Project. Prints can be purchased for $400.
The second event was held at the St. Augustine Lighthouse. Michael was recognized for his work helping veterans in St. Johns County. Wally played God Bless America.

Brian Keith update

Brian Keith writes to tell us that his sculpture project is nearly complete.
I hope you are doing well. I wanted to let you know that the final sculpture in the 7 piece series for Blackhawk Plaza is complete! It is now at the foundry being cast into bronze.
I have attached a couple of photos of this piece, which is named, "Ballerina Princess". I found the girls(twins) who modeled for this sculpture at the Ice Cream shop. They were incredible to work with. Such discipline. They would hold their pose for several minutes at a time. Please understand, that most of the time, little kids can barely hold to pose by the time I get back to my camera. Their personalities match that of the innocent little girl on the swan.
The grand unveiling will be in Spring '09. Please check on my website for the upcoming dates if you would like to come. You are all invited.
You may recall that Brian found inspiration for some of the pieces in this suite from World War Two aviators living at Coquina Crossing. link1 link2
