The Mad Hatters

The Coquina Crossing Mad Hatters have sent 250 handmade watchcaps to two units in Afghanistan. These soldiers are in the remote and rugged Hindu Kush mountains where the Taliban are active and funneling through to other areas of the country. In the winter, the snow can be three or four feet deep and supplies, which have to be brought in on a sling by helicoptor, are sometimes two months getting there!
These ladies have been meeting every Sunday for about nine months and will continue making more hats for a shipment again next fall. They are working in conjunction with the Coquina Crossing AnySoldier Program whose objective is to support the troops in the war zone by sending basic needs and wants and also humanitarian items for the soldiers to distribute to the local people.

Innocence
One Sunday morning, the pastor noticed little Alex standing in the foyer of the church staring up at a large plaque. It was covered with names and small American flags mounted on either side of it. The six-year old had been staring at the plaque for some time, so the pastor walked up, stood beside the little boy and said quietly, 'Good morning Alex.''Good morning Pastor,' he replied, still focused on the plaque. 'Pastor, what is this? '
The pastor said, 'Well son, it's a memorial to all the young men and women who died in the service.'
Soberly, they just stood together, staring at the large plaque. Finally, little Alex's voice, barely audible and trembling with fear asked, 'Which service, the 8:30 or the 10:30?
