The Big Map

The Big Map of the Big Apple. Not a map at all, but a collection of photos of the various neighborhoods of New York City. To anyone not from New York, these may just be mundane pictures. But if this is where you grew-up, it might be the next best thing to being there. Below are photos from Greenwich Village, Coney Island and the Garabedian House in the Bronx. You could spend hours exploring this website - just about every neighborhood is represented.

The war on drugs

This boat sports eight 250 horsepower outboard engines - that's 2000 hp! Made by Crompton Marine, these half million dollar, rigid inflateable boats are said to be capable of 70 mph, and because of their low profile are nearly invisible to radar. The curious part is that these boats were not made to intercept drug runners, but instead made to order for drug runners. The British goverenment prosecuted the owners and officers of Crompton Marine for aiding drug cartels. The Crompton website is closed and presumably so is the company.  link1   link2
